Born on the High Plains, with it’s big skies, golden wheat fields, the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon and wide, wide vistas, I am a Texas girl through and through and it is in my nature to dream big. As an adult, I have lived in all of the biggest Texas cities and experienced the diversity of this state’s great landscapes. As an artist, I was a late bloomer, taking my first lessons in my mid thirties. From my first class on, it was clear to me that I was born to create art.
My religion is found in the beauty of nature and in the joy of relationships. For me, painting is a deeply spiritual experience, both prayer and mantra. The very act of painting is a meditation, as is the contemplation of my subject matter. It is not surprising to me when people who own my paintings or the ones who come into my gallery/studio space tell me how peaceful, joyful and/or blessed they feel when looking at my work—a fulfillment of my intent.
Austin, Texas, my current home is a city not of my birth but of my heart. Here I have found a rich circle of friends in the art community who offer creative inspiration, support and motivation. An active member in Waterloo Watercolor Group, I have been the newsletter editor for the last 2 years, participated in the WWG shows and workshops, and become friends with some of the finest artists in the area. You can visit me and my work at Austin Art Space gallery, 7739-Q Northcross Drive.
